This discussion with New Haven author Shafiq Abdussabur will be moderated by Paul Bass, publisher of the New Haven Independent.
Shafiq Abdussabur is a law enforcement officer in Connecticut who has won awards for his work with inner city youth. In 2007 he co-founded Omar Ibn Said Leadership Academy, a private boarding school for boys. His book, A Black Man’s Guide To Law Enforcement In America, goes behind the Great Blue Wall of law enforcement to provide an insider’s view of issues that often arise between police and people of color.
